London is upon us… well, I’m traveling to London this Thursday for a long weekend. The main purpose of the trip is to finally see Emeli SandeLIVE! Granted, I’ve been to London before; however, that was then, and this is now (Vitamin C reference). I plan on avoiding some of the more common things and actually embracing “British life”. By that I mean, attending Barry’s Bootcamp, eat at restaurants that weren’t advertised on some sort of travel website (Sketch and Gymkhana), seeing Kinky Boots, and also traveling to Birmingham to see the love of my musical life – Emeli!

British pop music has been a prevalent staple in my life since The Saturdays truly made it all click for me in 2010 (yes, I was late to the Girls Aloud train). Since then, I have grown to really appreciate what I like to call Brit Pop. Sugababes, Spice Girls, Ellie Goulding, Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Steps, One Direction, the Wanted, Charlie XCX, Emeli all mean so much to be in some way, shape or form. Though the Guardian truly believes that BritPop is evil and Britain’s alternative to the grunge music Americans came to love in the 1990s; I attribute BritPop to the lovely pop music that is truly quite distinctly British.

For those of you who aren’t keen to it, it is quite frankly the happiest form of music you could listen to. It’s basically glitter that has been stylistically manipulated into a classy, campy yet imaginative song. I’ve curated a one-stop shop playlist for some of the greatest British-pop-music-moments of the last fifteen-ish years. Check it out below (will be update with amazing British jams along the way).
